Bringing Wellness to the UCSF Community

We’re thrilled to introduce the inaugural AANHPI Health & Wellness Resource Week—a celebration of holistic health and well-being rooted in the diverse traditions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. In September 2024, APASA was honored to receive the UCSF Community Well-Being Grant, allowing us to bring this vision to life and foster a culture of wellness for all communities at UCSF.

Two Weeks of Health and Wellness Events

The AANHPI Health and Wellness Week schedule is here! From April 28 to May 9, join us for two weeks of energizing, healing, and inspiring events designed to reconnect you with your roots and recharge your well-being. Think: nature walks, holistic wellness workshops, cultural healing experiences, mindful movement, nourishing food, and powerful community moments—all grounded in our theme: ROOTS - Restoring Our Origins Through Self-Care. If you're feeling extra motivated to enjoy the spring weather, we designed a self-guided AANHPI History Scavenger Hunt – a choose-your-own-adventure-style bike, run, or walk across San Francisco (and even Angel Island!). Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist, a casual runner, or a leisurely walker, your heart will race (in a good way!).  Tag us on Insta @APASAatUCSF #AANHPIWellnessWeekatUCSF at landmarks you visit!

View routes at bit.ly/HealthScavengerHunt and for a chance to win prizes, upload your photos to tiny.ucsf.edu/HealthScavengerHunt by the end of May.

Lastly, for another bit of collective fun, we invite the UCSF community to reflect on the concept of life force—Qi, Ki, Gi, Prana, Mana, Lung—as understood across AANHPI traditions. Submit photos, words, or artwork symbolizing life force—drawn from 2025 AANHPI Health & Wellness Week events, personal healing practices, or everyday moments of restoration. Submissions will be woven into a digital tapestry and shared in an uncoming APASA newsletter. All contributors will also receive a color-changing biofeedback card—a simple, interactive tool to observe the mind-body connection.

Who Is Invited?

We welcome everyone to our events—regardless of race, gender, religion, age, or ability — and encourage participation from:

✅ UCSF Staff, Faculty, Learners (students, postdocs, residents)
✅ UCSF Patients, Alumni, Volunteers
✅ The broader UCSF community

Our Vision & Goals

We invite the entire UCSF community to learn, explore, and experience traditional and modern wellness practices from across the Asian diaspora. This weeklong event will highlight Eastern holistic healing, align with UCSF Wellness Program pillars, and showcase health practices from historically underrepresented and excluded AANHPI groups. Our goal is to create an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone can engage in meaningful conversations about well-being and discover new ways to care for their health—mind, body, and spirit.

Join us in celebrating health, wellness, and the richness of AANHPI traditions!
